I was Blindsided By a Blind Date…

I was feeling nervous and excited as I got ready for my blind date. My friend had set me up with a guy she said was smart, funny, and handsome. She had shown me his picture and he looked like a dream. I decided to wear my favorite red dress and matching heels, hoping to impress him.

I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes early and waited at the bar. I scanned the room for his face, but I didn't see anyone who looked like him. Maybe he was running late. I ordered a glass of wine and checked my phone. No messages from him.

An Annoying Woman

I waited for another 15 minutes, feeling more anxious by the minute. Where was he? Did he forget? Did he change his mind? Did he get into an accident? I tried to calm myself down and think positively. Maybe he was stuck in traffic or had an emergency at work. Maybe he would show up any minute and apologize profusely.

I decided to give him another 10 minutes before calling it quits and leaving. I sipped my wine and tried to look casual. I noticed a man sitting at a table across the room. He was staring at me with a smile on his face. He looked familiar, but I couldn't place him. He waved at me and gestured for me to join him. Was he my date?

I got up from my seat and walked towards him, feeling confused. As I got closer, I realized who he was. He was my ex-boyfriend from high school. The one who cheated on me with my best friend. The one who broke my heart and humiliated me in front of everyone. The one who I never wanted to see again.

"Hey there, gorgeous," he said as I reached his table. "Long time no see."

I felt a surge of anger and disbelief. What was he doing here? Was this some kind of sick joke?

"What are you doing here?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"I'm your date," he said with a grin.

"What?" I gasped.

"Surprise!" he said.

He reached for my hand and pulled me closer to him. He tried to kiss me, but I pushed him away.

"Get off me!" I yelled.

He looked hurt and confused.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

"What's wrong? Are you kidding me?" I said.

He shrugged.

"I don't get it. Your friend set us up. She said you were looking for love."

"My friend? What friend?"

"Lisa."

"Lisa? Lisa who?"

"Lisa Smith."

I felt a chill run down my spine. Lisa Smith was my best friend in high school. The one who betrayed me with him. The one who I never spoke to again.

"She's your friend?" I asked.

He nodded.

"Yeah, we reconnected on Facebook a few months ago. She's cool."

I felt like I was going to faint.

"She set us up?" I asked.

He nodded again.

"Yeah, she said you were single and lonely. She said you needed some fun in your life."

I felt like I was going to vomit.

"She said that?" I asked.

He nodded once more.

"Yeah, she said you were still hung up on me. She said you never got over me."

I felt like I was going to explode.

"She said that?" I repeated.

He smiled.

"Yeah, she did. And she was right."

He leaned in for another kiss, but I slapped him hard across the face.

He recoiled in shock and pain.

"Ow! What was that for?" he asked.

"That was for cheating on me," I said.

I slapped him again.

"That was for lying to me," I said.

I slapped him a third time.

"And that was for wasting my time," I said.

I grabbed my purse and stormed out of the restaurant, leaving him stunned and speechless.

As I walked out, I saw Lisa standing outside the door. She had a smug smile on her face. She looked like she had just pulled off the prank of the century.

She waved at me and winked.

"Hey, girl," she said. "How was your date?"

I glared at her with pure hatred.

"You," I said.

She laughed.

"Me," she said.

She opened her mouth to say something else, but before she could, I slapped her too.

She took two steps back and started to cry.

I walked away without looking back. With friends like that... Just never mind.

Why would your friend do that to you? Is there a bunch of history about you and your friend that you are not telling us? This all sounds fishy to me.

Missy Says:
You are too nice. Had I been in that situation I would have ripped him a new one. And your ex friend Lisa - she might have been dead!

Matt Says:
That truly would be justification for murder. What a terrible thing to do.
